One of our VLA teachers shared a great idea for those of you who are working with potential graduates. In the past, this teacher experienced a rush of students submitting work several days before graduation. They all wanted their work graded immediately so that they could participate in their graduation ceremonies. It was nearly impossible for her to grade that much work in such a short amount of time. She got everything graded, but I'm guessing that she didn't get much sleep!
This year she has a plan that should solve the problem. She has emailed her students and given them a May 15 deadline for submitting work that is required for them to particiapate in graduation. Of course, she will accept work submitted after this, but she is hoping that the majority of the students will stick with the May 15 date. This should alleviate the problem of too much work received all at once.
Thanks, Cathy, for sharing this idea!
