Best Practices Part 1

At our first local VLA Teacher Retooling workshop, a few teachers shared some VLA best practices. Here are some of their great ideas.

  • Keep in touch with your students. One teacher shared how just touching base with her students via email caused them to begin turning in more work.
  • Another teacher wanted to make sure that she knew who turned in work each week. She wanted to be able to send a reminder email to students who had not turned in anything. She began keeping a spreadsheet where she noted when students turned in work. She can tell at a glance who has worked and who hasn't on any given week.
  • A third teacher shared how she has been giving her students holiday "treats" in the form of bonus points. You can read more about this by clicking HERE.

If you have some of your own best practices ideas to share, please click the comments link below. By sharing ideas that work, we can work together to help students succeed.
