Welcome to a new school year VLA teachers! We realize you've probably been grading all summer as well, but you'll be seeing new students now with a brand new year beginning. Please send a welcome message to those new students and send a reminder email to those who have been working through the summer to continue to work until they finish their course(s). Don't forget the threaded discussion piece to the program where you can communicate with all your students.
Remind students to save their work as they go through a unit and to email you when they have difficulties as they work. Remind them to log out of the system before they close the browswer in order to properly activate the seat time component. It only benefits them if done correctly. Many districts check this in order to give the students proper credit for their work on a daily basis.
Continue to encourage your students as they work. Give them plenty of feedback. Some students find it hard to sit down and concentrate on the task at hand and your positive feedback may be all they need to spur them forward to work on their course(s).
