VLA System Upgrades

Hopefully you've logged in to your VLA teacher account today or yesterday and noticed that there were some changes made to the system. I wanted to highlight a few of the upgrades for you.

Expired students will now appear in red for 30 days. Then, 30 days after their licenses have expired, their names will disappear from your list. If there is paperwork that needs to be completed, the red will prompt you to complete it. If not, then you will probably appreciate having a shortened student list when the names disappear.

E-mails are more organized. When you (or a student) launches a new e-mail message using the paper and pencil icon in the upper right corner, you'll notice that you are prompted to select a recipient from a drop-down list. In the past, students were launching new messages, not selecting the proper teacher, and sending messages to the wrong teachers. The drop-down menu should remedy that. If you are replying to a student's e-mail message, you will find that the student's original message is retained in your reply.

When you are grading, you will now see a View Content button attached to each question. If you have ever gone back to look at the unit's content as you're grading, then you will truly appreciate this addition! If you want to see what the student sees, simply click the View Content button. The unit's content will appear in another window. This is especially helpful if you're trying to make sure that the student didn't copy and paste answers from the text. You can also use the View Content button if the student's answer doesn't match the answer key but looks like it could be correct. Use the View Content button to see where they found the answer.

Hopefully these upgrades will help you better teach and communicate with your students. If you have any questions about the system upgrades, please feel free to click the Comments link below. Leave a comment with your question, and I'll reply with an answer in another comment. You can also email your questions to patty.ferrell@omeresa.net
